Helcon was last weekend. The event was again great success, with lots of good games available. Running the event just week after Essen proved a bit problematic, as some of the games arrived from Essen on Friday, barely in time....

Continuing from the part 1, part 2 and part 3. Le Havre. I had already decided to pass Le Havre because I felt it was going to be too long for me anyway. Well, Tommy suggested it for my last...

Let's see what I didn't cover in part 1 or part 2... see also part 4. GemBlo Pyramid. This dice-pyramid game is apparently good, if played with the expert rules. Well, we couldn't figure them out, so we tried the...

Continuing my Helcon review, see part 1 here, there's also part 3 and part 4. Preußische Ostbahn. Another Historic Railroads System game from Winsome, fairly closely related to Wabash Cannonball. However, this one's billed as "German family game". Indeed, the...

Helcon came and went. It's by far my favourite board game event, and once again proved to be excellent. It's small enough, about hundred people or so, yet offers plenty of good board game action. I travelled to Helsinki with...

I spent most of my yesterday attending Tracon. Tracon is a yearly convention here in Tampere, this was the third time it was organized. Tracon is mostly about anime, manga and role-playing games. In the first two Tracon's, I don't...

Another Helcon is gone (well, they're still playing, but I'm already back home) and boy, it was a good one! We started games on the train to Helsinki. Robert managed to get himself to the wrong train (for some reason...

As the tradition goes (last year, the year before that, the weekend before that, the year before that...), I met Tommy for a day of games. So, this year it was just me and him, and just a single day....

I spent the weekend in FinDipCon VIII in Helsinki. It was a pleasant event, as they usually are, with lots of games played. The Diplomacy tournament was of course the main event: the Finnish Diplomacy champion in 2006 is Juho...

Today is the first Board Game Society BrettSpielWelt event. It started at noon, I had an hour or two to spend there. There was already about dozen people online, and more will come later, I'm sure. It's a nice idea....

Saturday was the big games day of the weekend, when Tommy and Stefu came all the way from Vantaa/Espoo and were joined by Robert of the local gamers. We started around noon and played almost 12 hours straight. It was...

Saturday was games, games, games. About 50 people participated, playing lots of games. Few bigger ones were scheduled and the Memoir '44 tournament kept on going. Here's my games: Memoir '44--> Indonesia. Splotter was the theme of the day, and...

Helcon 2005 was already the fourth time the event was organised. This time we had a new location, a meeting hall of The Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Mission. It was a good location for many reasons: it was clean, had enough...

Ropecon 2005 is approaching fast. It's the biggest roleplaying event in Finland and boasts a wide variety of board game events. There's the Finnish Championships of Catan and Carcassonne, where the winners get to go to Essen to represent Finland...

Here's the rest of the games of the great weekend: Mit List und Tücke was brought by Robert, who had noticed the game on my want list in the Geek. It's a Klaus Palesch trick-taking game and not that far...

We had a really good games weekend last weekend. Tommy came over Friday afternoon with a bunch of interesting games to try. We were joined on Saturday by Manu and Robert. After dinner Manu left, but was later replaced by...

Once again I ventured to Lahti and Peter Munter's board game weekend. After all, I had to go and rescue my sleeping bag I had forgotten there last time. For the record, it didn't survive: Munter's dog (a huge Great...

Last weekend was the traditional annual games weekend at Tommy's. Third time already! Unfortunately the weekend wasn't quite the success it set out to be, as I fell sick and had to leave. We did get an evening of games...

Tommy posted a nice Helcon report on his website. It's in Finnish, but English readers can at least take a look at pictures. Few picks: Yours truly studying the rules to Mall World, a very cryptic Sleuth note sheet, Robert,...

If you haven't read Helcon III - Saturday yet, that's the place to start from. Sunday began with a meeting, when the Finnish Diplomacy Association had it's last meeting. It's final now: the association will now be known as Finnish...
